Amazing High Speed Photography + Life Lately

Hi everyone! How is your weekend so far?

I went to my school’s photography workshop this evening, where we spent two hours crouched in front of a tank of water, snapping photos of random things being dropped inside. Photography Club is tons of fun. I like it almost as much as Crafts for Charity, which I am super excited about as well πŸ™‚ In the photography lesson, I learned so many new words.

Aside: getting into a new field always seems to involve learning a new “language”! While my kinesiology classmates and I could converse using words like “supination”, “gastrocnemius”, and “plantarflexion” – I need to switch to Bio language when discussing “snRNPs” and osmoregulators” with my bio study group. Now I’m learning a new language with photography, and it’s great! πŸ™‚

Thankfully my camera is working now. The memory card was full a couple days ago, but it was all fixed by Wednesday. I used my iPhone for pics on those two days. Turns out I just had to format my memory card on the camera.

At Photo Club, it was fun to see my friends, including the lovely Maddy from the Schulich Leaders DinnerΒ earlier this year. πŸ™‚

Random Thoughts

I finally, finally bought a new binder today. Seems like the most trivial thing in the world, but I really needed one since the old one was ripped and torn and practically fell apart. I ended up breaking it, literally, and tossing the pieces in the garbage. Thank goodness I new have a shiny new binder – it motivates me to study. πŸ™‚ Kind of.

The Goosebumps movie, guys. It’s out.

It’s real.

The real movie. For Goosebumps.

Seline and I have been waiting for this for, without exaggerating, a decade. I can’t believe a movie was actually made from these old 90’s books! I thought we were the only people who read them. And don’t even get me started on Fear Street. We spent half of our trip to Paris playing 20 Questions with Fear Street CHARACTERS. Insane.

It’s actually pretty embarrassing to share online that I am, at this age, R.L. Stine’s biggest fan. My sister and I have read every single book in the series about 87 times each and our obsession started in when I was in grade two. We’re still in love with the series. They just don’t get old!Β This is almost as embarrassing as last year’s addiction to National Treasure. Oh my goodness. Speaking of that movie, I can’t wait to watch it when I go back to BC this winter!Β Less than two months to go…

Seline, if you’re reading this, we’re gonna go to theatres to see this. I don’t care if I hate movies and crowded theatres and I don’t care if you think books are better than movies – we need to watch this together! πŸ˜€

Have you ever read a Goosebumps novel? How about the Fear Street series by RL Stine?

This girl is such an inspiration. I love her cheerfulness and enthusiasm πŸ™‚ If I weren’t so addicted to yoga, I’d be trying out her fun moves at home.

Halloween! I want some of this pumpkin oatmeal. Doesn’t it look cute with the little jack-o-lantern face? My oats tomorrow are definitely going to look like this – with chocolate chips instead of whatever they used here πŸ˜‰

Speaking of pumpkin oatmeal, did you see the 100% from-scratchΒ pumpkin pieΒ my roomies and I baked the other day? If you haven’t, be sure to check outΒ the recipe HERE.

This made me smile today πŸ™‚

I’m tired now and it’s time for bed. Can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow – what should I make? πŸ™‚

Good night!

  1. […] me introduce them to you! Kate is sitting at the very left, next to Sarah. Maddy (who we met at the high speed photography workshop and the Schulich Leaders dinner) is across from her, and I’m the one with the scarf between […]

  2. Those underwater photographs are amazing!! They came out really cool! I feel like learning a new ‘language’ is always the hardest part when learning a new skill. It always takes a while to be comfortable with all the words and what they mean. I am really excited to see the Goosebumps movie as well! Oh my goodness I can’t believe you made that pumpkin pie completely from scratch! That is really impressive and I bet it tasted delicious πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you!
So am I. I just “discovered” her a couple days ago and but love her fun and enthusiastic videos.
Ended up having pumpkin-ricotta pancakes with chocolate chips and cinnamon-flax yogurt on top, plus 3 different nut butters πŸ™‚ So yummy and I want to eat it again. What did you have for breakfast?

      1. Pancakes on Monday morning are my idea of a great start to the week πŸ™‚
Ricotta pancakes are fluffy and moist, with a sweet dairy note if that makes sense – sort of like Greek yogurt pancakes but less dense. I like them a lot because they make the pancakes airy.
Amazing! I saw your pancake photos. They looked divine – you inspired me to pick up a jar of Sunbutter at the grocery store the other day. Plus it was on discount. I’ve had it before but I don’t remember it being this delicious – I’m adding it to EVERYTHING.

    1. Thank you! I am glad you like them πŸ™‚
We did have lots of equipment though – backdrops, flashing lights with a timer, and things like that. I definitely wouldn’t be able to do these at home!

  3. Hi baby, I am glad that you found another interesting thing that you like. I am only use my cell phone to take photos. The photos are so amazing!
I am so so happy for you that you got a new blinder. I believe this one is much stronger than the one you used to have. Way to go!

    1. Thanks Mom! I’m glad you like them. I wish I could practice taking photos like this at home but we used lots of materials like flashers and backdrops.

I’m happy about the binder too! My favourite colour πŸ™‚
