Honey Bake Shop

Uptown Waterloo… again. I just love this place!

Honey Bake Shop was kind of a new find for me. I’ve walked inside and looked at the cupcakes, but I never sat down to enjoy one until recently.

The interior is beautifully decorated with cute banners, paintings, and mosaics. There were quite a few cupcakes to choose from: oreo, red velvet (the most popular), lemon, chocolate, strawberries and cream, and peanut butter chocolate to name a few. They also serve macarons, scones, croissants, and banana loaf.

The cute design made me want to sit down and admire the walls for hours. Okay, not really, but it was still very visually-appealing.

Next time I want to sit in this corner with a big table πŸ™‚

But for today, I sat in a nice little table (with a plant, woo) and spread out my Chemistry homework.

Started with a mug of tea. I wasn’t sure which tea to order, but the man at the service counter told me how popular the almond coconut tea was, so that’s what I tried. It was fragrant and had the nice almond-coconut flavour that I adore, but for some reason this wasn’t the tea for me.

My cupcake was chocolate-coconut.

The chocolate base was so moist and fluffy, and the icing had the right amount of coconut flavour and was quite rich but not overly sweet. The crispy shredded coconut on top really made this cupcake stand out. I meant to eat half and be done, but I accidentally ate the entire thing πŸ™‚ I’m not really a cupcake person though, but a hearty muffin always satisfies a carb craving for me.

Do you like cupcakes?

Three midterms next week and two the following week, plus labs and quizzes and assignments and essays – lots to do tonight. Maybe I’ll make myself a warm glass of milk while I study and do my lab report. Have a great Friday, friends! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes I totally agree! It needs to have a good frosting-cake ratio. It was a pretty good cupcake but I’d much prefer a hearty muffin πŸ™‚ I’ve never made homemade cupcakes!

  1. Always choose chocolate cake! I like cake but not so much icing. I’d rather have whipped cream than icing… better yet, ice cream!
Good luck with your midterms! Glad you have little places where you can escape to and study!

    1. Oh it’s definitely the chocolate for me too! If a baked good has chocolate, banana, or pumpkin, I need to have it… ASAP.
Ice cream! Definitely. Cold, slightly melty ice cream on a warm chocolate dessert is my idea of post-midterms reward. But I had that last week too for no reason πŸ™‚
Haha… “study”! I spent most of the time people-watching, Buzzfeed-watching, and pretending I was doing work!

    1. Is this Seline being a troll? I don’t think Mom usually writes like this… hm :/
Oh it was very yummy though! I love coconut and chocolate. No I haven’t had coffee here – hot chocolate either!
