Honey Bake Shop

Uptown Waterloo… again. I just love this place!

Honey Bake Shop was kind of a new find for me. I’ve walked inside and looked at the cupcakes, but I never sat down to enjoy one until recently.

The interior is beautifully decorated with cute banners, paintings, and mosaics. There were quite a few cupcakes to choose from: oreo, red velvet (the most popular), lemon, chocolate, strawberries and cream, and peanut butter chocolate to name a few. They also serve macarons, scones, croissants, and banana loaf.

The cute design made me want to sit down and admire the walls for hours. Okay, not really, but it was still very visually-appealing.

Next time I want to sit in this corner with a big table 🙂

But for today, I sat in a nice little table (with a plant, woo) and spread out my Chemistry homework.

Started with a mug of tea. I wasn’t sure which tea to order, but the man at the service counter told me how popular the almond coconut tea was, so that’s what I tried. It was fragrant and had the nice almond-coconut flavour that I adore, but for some reason this wasn’t the tea for me.

My cupcake was chocolate-coconut.

The chocolate base was so moist and fluffy, and the icing had the right amount of coconut flavour and was quite rich but not overly sweet. The crispy shredded coconut on top really made this cupcake stand out. I meant to eat half and be done, but I accidentally ate the entire thing 🙂 I’m not really a cupcake person though, but a hearty muffin always satisfies a carb craving for me.

Do you like cupcakes?

Three midterms next week and two the following week, plus labs and quizzes and assignments and essays – lots to do tonight. Maybe I’ll make myself a warm glass of milk while I study and do my lab report. Have a great Friday, friends! 🙂
