Minoas Greek Taverna

Have you been to Minoas? It’s a quaint place in Burnaby, and it wasn’t too crowded when we visited a couple weeks ago on Saturday evening. We all had free Greek salads to start. They were topped with feta cheese and an olive. I didn’t eat much of this, saving my appetite for the big entree!

Seline enjoyed a pita pizza with chicken and peppers. Surprisingly, she finished all the peppers! She also liked the calamari here with garlicky tzatziki. I’m not much of a calamari fan!

Check out the restaurant decoration. I’ve never been to Greece, but I sort of felt like I was having dinner on someone’s balcony in Greece! Loved the vines entwined around the ceiling, and the blue and white wall colours.

Seline ordered the chicken souvlaki with rice and potatoes for her main dish. I ate all her stewed carrotsย – they were excellent with all the herbs. Minoas makes incredible tzatziki, too.

Mom had the roast lamb. This portion was GINORMOUS for her – it could feed her for three days, no joke. She sawed off 3/4 of the lamb for Grandma and shared the rest with our table.

I ordered the vegetarian eggplant dish. It was baked eggplant filled with veggies and cheese. I really liked it! The tomato-stew flavour was spot-on and tasted awesome with the charred eggplant. I loved my entree and I’m so glad I ordered this! My Greek rice was awesome, as always, and I did lots of dipping in tzatziki.

Grandpa ordered red snapper with a similar tomato sauce. His fish was FANTASTIC! He offered me a couple of bites and I really, really loved this dish. It was so good! I want to order the snapper next time. ๐Ÿ™‚ Seriously delicious.

    1. Eggplant is definitely one of my favourite non-traditional veggies. I don’t understand how people can hate on it because it’s mushy! I LOVE stuffed eggplants and I really need to find a recipe – have you made stuffed eggplants before?

      1. IKR?! I think the texture is amazing!! I actually love it when it’s super mushy and hate it when it’s raw. ๐Ÿ˜›
        I like to stack roasted eggplant slices and stuff them with marinara, turkey and Mozzarella! SO. GOOD. You have to try it! What else can you stuff your eggplant with?

  1. Yumm. (: I came here once with my mom before, probably a few years back but it was a buy 1 get 1 free deal for the lamb dinner plates. We asked for it to be packed right when they came.. Greek restaurants have seriously humongous portions!

    1. Aww sweet! I should really become more bargain-savvy and start seeking those coupons. ๐Ÿ™‚ They are really, really big portions – I totally know what you mean. One dinner platter is enough for two IMO ๐Ÿ™‚
