Ottawa Girl Eats (Intro)

Hey everyone! Cindy here. Awesome thing that I’m going to introduce you to – my little sister, who’s three years younger than me, is travelling to Ontario tomorrow morning. I decided to do a feature about her on my blog called Ottawa Girl Eats.

The name is inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, Iowa Girl Eats. 😉

She’ll be in Ottawa for a week, and she’s going to be learning about Arts and Culture while meeting new friends from around the country and living in a Youth Centre in the beautiful capital city of Canada.

This is Seline’s first time going “out”, on her own, and after hearing about my incredible experience in Montreal, she’s pretty psyched to be going out on her own adventure this week. She’ll be taking notes and lots of photos so I can give you all a full report on her amazing trip.

Here’s a little interview that I wanted to do with her before she leaves early tomorrow morning. Hopefully we’ll look back on this questionnaire, after the week is over, and reflect on how the trip really was, versus her expectations. 🙂 That will be very meaningful and I can’t wait! Here we go…

1. How did you hear about this program?

My sister recommended me this program. It was “hey, you should try this! Here’s some info”. I looked over the papers, and at first, I didn’t want to do it. Then, a few weeks later, my friend brought it up again, and we decided to go together. Registration was complicated but everything worked out fine.

2. How do you feel about leaving at 6:00 tomorrow?

I’m super stoked. I can’t wait to go to the airport and go to Ottawa to meet new friends!

3. What are you the most excited for?

I’m most excited to go through the airport.

[No, seriously]

I’m excited to find out where I’m living, see the new people, explore the Youth Centre, and meet new people.

4. Is there anything you are scared of?

I’m scared of going on a plane without my parents for the first time, but I’m sure it will all be alright. I’m also scared that I won’t be used to the new environment, but hopefully, I’ll adjust.

5. How do you feel about the -20*C temperature in Ontario?

I’m not really scared of the cold, but I’ve still brought some warm jackets, sweatpants, and boots.

6. What do you think will be the best part?

Gain some experience, travel with my friend (Brianna), and see another province. And also Parliament! I just want to see it.

7. Tell me more about what you expect! Rate out of ten of what you’re expecting for:

a) the plane ride – 7

b) your new friends – 7

c) the Youth Centre – 9

d) your dorm – 7

e) the food – 9

f) the activities – 8

g) going to Parliament – 8

h) learning about Arts and Culture – 8

8. Do you have any questions? Anything you aren’t sure about?

I’m not sure what my daily schedule will look like. I’m not really sure how showers will work. And what are we going to do after the activities?

Cindy back again! So, it’s 11:21 PM now and I have to go to bed – going to make pancakes for her breakfast tomorrow morning. I’m so excited for her trip! It was honestly the most spontaneous thing we’ve ever done. Have a beautiful weekend everyone!

Stay tuned for the next Ottawa Girl Eats post 🙂

PS: new recipes coming soon!
