10/10 Dessert

Hey everyone! Seline’s birthday was a while ago (okay, two months ago) and I just found the photos and wanted to share them with you guys!

On her birthday morning, I had a big bowl of chocolate oatmeal (quick oats + mashed banana + cocoa powder) topped with peanut butter. So simple, yet really amazing. This bowl tasted like a Reese’s peanut butter cup, minus the artificial ingredients.

Lunch was at Earl’s, a modern, Cactus Club-like, restaurant in Burnaby.

All the food came at the same time, and calamari was one of our appetizers. Seline really liked how crispy they were, and Mom commented that it was the “best calamari” she’s had.

Seline ordered the margherita pizza (I prefer the one from TreGalli Cafe in New West), Grandpa had Greek spaghetti with chicken, and Mom had a chicken + fig + apple sandwich. It reminded me of Whole Food’s Turkey-Apple-Brie Sandwich! We also ordered truffle fries. They weren’t as good as the ones from the Sandbar. 😦

Grandma had a pasta dish – fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. Her review wasn’t super positive, since she likes food piping hot (like, straight out of the oven, eaten over the sink kind of hot).  This was merely warm and she hated the temperature. But the flavours were okay, according to her – pretty ordinary fettuccine.

As you can see from above, I had a bit of everything. 🙂 The salad was surprisingly yummy! I liked the dressing, honey-spiced pecans, and feta cheese.

Desserts knocked my socks off. We ordered two – here are their intros from the menu.

Here they were. The chocolate toffee pudding seriously sent me to heaven. It was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of my top two favourite desserts of all time. It hit all my favourite sensations (?): chocolatey, creamy, fudgy, WARM, rich, flavourful, tender, moist, soft…

If you go to Earl’s, you MUST order the warm chocolate sticky toffee pudding and all-out indulge! With lots of vanilla bean gelato. I know it doesn’t look like much in the photos, but if you’re a sucker for anything chocolatey, warm, and soft, this dessert is for you!  I’d say this dessert is a 10/10 in my book and a total recommend. I’m kind of drooling now… I want this. Maybe two of them.

See you guys! 🙂
